I)
Orchids Limited cannot guarantee the
productivity of any plant. All plants are inspected
for any signs of disease or virus. To the best of
our knowledge, our plants leave free of pests or
diseases. Plants are, however, living things and
they can at any time develop disease, virus, or
insect pests. If there is a problem with your order,
please contact us within 2 weeks of receipt.
We will offer cultural advice or replace the plant(s).
After 14 days, we cannot be held responsible for the
health of the plants as they are no longer in our
care.
J)
Damaged plants: If plants arrive
damaged due to freezing, overheating or poor
packing, please notify us immediately by phone or
email. Please do not refuse or return any
shipment without notifying us first. There are
no refunds on plants as they are perishable items,
but we will gladly replace your plants.
Please
return damaged plants to us for verification, using
as much of the original packing materials as
possible. Once we receive your plants, we will ship
replacements. Return shipping is your expense; we
pay shipping on the replacement plant(s)
In the
case of dead plants, please send us a photo or
photos, as we may need these as proof when filing
claims with the carrier.
K)
Plants shipped in spike/in bud:
We will gladly ship plants in
spike/bud. We believe our
method of packing
to be the best available.
98% of the time,
plants arrive intact, however,
due to handling by carriers beyond our control, we
cannot guarantee all flowers/buds will arrive in
perfect condition. We will not replace plants
that arrive with damaged buds or flower spikes.
These plants will bloom again with proper care.
L) All orders with a Minnesota shipping
address are assessed 6.5% state sales tax (plus 0.15% Hennepin County sales tax and 0.25% transit tax depending on zip code) on plants, supplies and
shipping.
M)
SUPPLIES: Due to the
variety in sizes and weights, packing/shipping
charges for supplies will be calculated separately
and added to your order. Supplies are normally
sent by FedEx GROUND unless the items are small and
can be combined with plant orders; in this case an
extra charge will be added to reflect the
additional weight and/or volume. All sales
are final. There are no returns unless an item is
damaged in shipment. Contact us first before sending
a damaged item back.
In general, the minimum charge by FedEx Ground
for lightweight items is $9-$10, for medium
weight $11-$14, heavy items $15-$25.
(These do not apply to large items such as
Orchidariums or P.L. Light fixtures.) Charges also
vary by shipping address. These are approximate
base charges only.
Some items, such as books, Momet Moisture Meters,
Phyton 27 and P.L. Light bulbs, may be
shipped by the US Postal Service. Minimum
shipping by Priority Mail is $7.00.
Orchidariums, P.L. Light fixtures and Kent
Marine Reverse Osmosis systems are shipped
directly from supplier, usually by UPS.
- For Orchidariums, please allow 3-4 weeks for
delivery
- For P.L. Lights, allow 2-3 weeks
- For Kent Marine R.O. units, allow 1-2 weeks

Conditions of Sale
Outside the U.S.
– International Orders (including Canada)
A) Minimum order for plants is $2500.00 payable in U.S. funds prior to shipping. (Note: See Condition I regarding Group orders.) We accept the following credit cards: American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Payment by wire transfer is also acceptable. Please inquire for bank account details.
B) Not all plants are available for export. We can ship only specific orchids and nepenthes that are on our approved Appendix I and Appendix II permits, authorized by CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species). These permits include both species and hybrids. We have designated CITES-approved plants on our website. Please refer to this listing to select your plants. This listing is continually updated.
C)
Once you place your order we will confirm availability. We will finalize your order and will mail, fax or email your invoice. Payment must be made at this time. CITES and phytosanitary documents will then be processed and your order shipped as soon as possible.
D)
Shipping plants outside the United States is a complicated task with requirements that are different for each country. To cover time and costs involved in preparing documentation for individual foreign orders:
This fee is for document preparation time that can take many hours. This also covers fees that include document mailing, plant inspector travel and inspection fees as well as the permits themselves: State phytosanitary certificate, Federal phytosanitary certificate and CITES permits.
Depending on the plants and the country, you may be required to obtain a plant import permit. Check with your country’s Ministry or Department of Agriculture. You will be responsible for any import permit or customs fees.
E) Shipments will be made by Express Mail. It may also be possible to ship via FedEx airfreight to your country.
F)
We will make every effort to be sure your plants arrive in good condition. All plants will be shipped bare-root; roots will be wrapped with moist sphagnum moss or shredded wax paper, secured in plastic bags.
G)
There are many factors involved as to when we ship: weather, time of year, allowing ample time for a customer to obtain an import permit, if required, from the destination country. Each customer needs to allow at least 2 months for processing an order before shipping. Note that if you place an order several months in advance, plant health and/or available stock can change over time and plants may need to be removed from the original order.
H) We ship foreign orders during the following months: late March, April, May, June, July, mid-August, September, October, up to mid-November. We do not ship foreign orders in December, January or February. We avoid shipping during times of extreme heat or cold.
I) Group orders – From time to time, Orchids Limited travels to the EU or other countries, bringing plants with them. By consolidating plant orders from several customers, we can combine these into one group order under one permit. (As part of a group order, an individual customer does not need to order the $2500 minimum.) For these orders, a 15% handling fee is added to cover packing charges and any checked baggage fees that may be imposed by the airlines. These charges will be divided equally among the number of customers in the group – however, a customer ordering large plants may be charged an additional fee for excess baggage. Shipping charges to each individual address within the country or trading bloc will be charged separately, once we return to the US.
J) All fees subject to change without prior notification.
K) With the exception of books, we do not ship supplies outside the U.S.
