Cross: (Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry' FCC/AOS x Louis Sander)

Intro:
The picture here is one of the parents: Cirrhopetalum Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry' FCC/AOS and is used to illustrate how the resulting flower should look. This cross is an exciting one that produces large flowers up to 10" with a yellow purple background veined in red purple. The veining should be more pronounced and a deeper red. They flower twice per year.

Light:
Grow this plant in phalaenopsis to slightly brighter light.

Temperature:
This plant likes warm temperatures to do best, i.e., phalaenopsis. 60-65 degrees at night and 70-85 degrees for daytime temperatures is best.

Humidity:
The higher the humidity the better for cirrhopetalum. 50% or higher is ideal.

Water:
Water is essential at all times for proper growth and maintenance. Water as the plant approaches dryness, but do not let the plant to become bone dry. Use clean water such as rain, reverse osmosis, or distilled. Water often!

Fertilizer:
We highly recommend Green Jungle Orchid Food, especially formulated to work with rain, distilled, reverse osmosis water or water low in alkalinity. Fertilize with Green Jungle every time you water.

Or, use GrowMore 20-10-20 Ureafree for municipal or well water. Use at the rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon. If using GrowMore with rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water, add back in 5 - 10% municipal or well water to supply the necessary calcium and magnesium. Fertilize every other watering in the summer and every third watering in the winter.

Flowering:
Flowering season can be somewhat variable, but usually begins in mid to late summer through fall. The onset of cooler fall temperatures triggers the flower spikes.

Repotting:
Repotting is best done in the spring months. This plant prefers New Zealand sphagnum moss in a net pot or mounted on a hydrolog. It can be grown in plastic pots with a bark mix as long as it is kept moist at all times. If growing in pots, we recommend changing the mix yearly for best results. Cocopeat (50%) and perlite (50%) work well also.
