Intro:
The word Cirrhopetalum is derived from the Latin words "Cirrhus", which means hairy, and "Petalon", which means petal. This frizzy-flowered grower-friendly plant is from East India and Thailand. It is a fairly warm growing plant good for a beginner or advanced hobbyist.

Light:
This plant prefers low to medium light from 1000 to 2500 foot candles. It will grow with phalaenopsis.

Temperature:
This plant prefers intermediate to warm temperatures similar to phalaenopsis culture. Winter nighttime lows should be 62 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Winter daytime highs should be 75 degrees or warmer. Summertime temperatures should be a few degrees warmer.

Humidity:
50% or higher is ideal.

Water:
It is best to use rainwater, distilled or reverse osmosis water. Municipal water with a pH of 7.5 or lower can also be used. Water as the plant approaches dryness but do not allow the plant to become bone dry between waterings.

Fertilizer:
We highly recommend Green Jungle Orchid Food, especially formulated to work with rain, distilled, reverse osmosis water or water low in alkalinity. Fertilize with Green Jungle every time you water.

Or, use GrowMore 20-10-20 Ureafree for municipal or well water. Use at the rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon. If using GrowMore with rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water, add back in 5 - 10% municipal or well water to supply the necessary calcium and magnesium. Fertilize every other watering in the summer and every third watering in the winter.

Flowering:
This plant has an interesting style of blooming. Before the flower fully opens, it actually looks like it is withered and has a pale color to it. After a few days it will fully "puff up" and become an elegant white flower. It tends to bloom in the spring and summer seasons, but many times it can bloom in the fall or winter instead.

Repotting:
Repot this plant in a moist retaining mix such as coconut fiber or peat moss with perlite for drainage. It is best to repot in the spring months when not in flower.
