Intro:
Angraecum didieri is native to Madagascar and grows at an elevation of 4,000 to 5,000 feet. The miniature Angraecoid has star-shaped 2" flowers on a plant barely 3" in size. This plant is easy to grow and flower.

Light:
This plant prefers 1,500 to 3,500 footcandles. When growing under fluorescent lights grow within ten inches of the tubes. East windows are ideal in a home or a south window during the dead of winter for Northern or Southern extremes. In the greenhouse grow at between Cattleya and Phalaenopsis light.

Temperature:
This plant prefers intermediate temperatures with winter nighttime lows between 58 and 62 degrees and winter daytime highs of 70 degrees or above. Summer temperatures can be a few degrees higher.

Humidity:
50% or higher is ideal.

Water:
Use rain, distilled or reverse osmosis water for best results. Municipal water with a pH of 7.5 or lower can also be used. Water the plant when the mix just dries out. It should be thoroughly watered so that water is flushing out all of the drain holes. When in flower, keep more evenly moist.

Fertilizer:
We highly recommend Green Jungle Orchid Food, especially formulated to work with rain, distilled, reverse osmosis water or water low in alkalinity. Fertilize with Green Jungle every time you water.

Or, use GrowMore 20-10-20 Ureafree, at the rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon, every other watering during the summer months and every third watering during the winter months. To add the necessary calcium and magnesium to rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water, add in 5 -10% of your municipal or well water or use CalMag 15-5-15 at the rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon, once a month.

Flowering:
This plant flowers in late summer to fall months. The flowers are large in size. Plants that are barely 3" across can produce flowers 2" in size. The flowers are star-shaped with white, rounded, somewhat elongated lips, and are fragrant in the evening smelling like a combination of spicy candy and floral scent. When buds appear and during the flowering period it is important to keep this plant more evenly moist between watering.

Repotting:
This plant prefers a bark mix, charcoal or tree fern fiber as potting media. Pot in clay pots. They can also be mounted on cork or tree fern slabs. Repot or remount these plants only when necessary being careful not to damage the roots. It is best to repot in spring months when active growth is occurring.
