Intro:
Angraecum magdalenae is native Madagascar. It is easy to grow, can take bright light and some dyness at the roots. The flowers are pure white with a very thick texture. This orchid has fragrant flowers smelling like nutmeg and cinnamon mixed together. It is fragrant both day and night. Angraecum magdalenaes flowers last two to three months.

Light:
This plant prefers medium to high light conditions (2,500 to 5,000 foot candles). When growing under a windowsill, a bright east or south exposure is necessary. Grow about 3 to 4 feet under bulbs when growing under high pressure sodium lights. When growing under fluorescent bulbs, this plant can be placed about a foot to two feet below bulbs.

Temperature:
This plant prefers intermediate temperatures. A daytime temp of 68 to 80 is ideal while nighttime temperatures should drop to upper 50's or lower 60's.

Humidity:
50% or higher is ideal.

Water:
It is best to use rainwater, distilled or reverse osmosis water. Municipal water with a pH of 7.5 or lower can also be used. Water as the mix just dries out, when in bloom water as the medium approaches dryness.

Fertilizer:
We highly recommend Green Jungle Orchid Food, especially formulated to work with rain, distilled, reverse osmosis water or water low in alkalinity. Fertilize with Green Jungle every time you water.

Or, GrowMore 20-10-20 Ureafree for municipal or well water. Use at the rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon. If using rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water, add back in 5 - 10% municipal or well water to supply the necessary calcium and magnesium. Fertilize every other watering in the summer and every third watering in the winter.



Flowering:
This plant tends to bloom during the spring or fall months. This plant will produce one to two flowers per flower spike. The flowers are pure white, waxy and fragrant smelling like cinnamon and nutmeg blended together. The flowers last 2-3 months.

Repotting:
Repot this plant once every 12 to 18 months in a medium grade orchid bark mixture. Clay or plastic pots work well. keep dry the first week after repotting.
