Description
This Madagascan beauty (Angraecum sesquipedale) only blooms once per year in the winter, and got its nick-name from the naturalist Charles Darwin, who studied many plants of the wild. This plant, along with many other Angraecoids from Madagascar and Africa, are moth-pollinated and therefore only have fragrance in the evenings. In order to keep the flowers fragrant, we will be using led candlelights to create a dim enviroment. Our largest plant is over 20 years old!
Jason Fischer will lead the tour and give details about this species, along with other nocturally fragrant orchids that will be on display for you to smell! Each tour lasts 30 minutes and includes the opportunity to purchase a small Darwin's orchid seedlings for $15, or larger Angraecum sesquipedale at 15% off.
If the time slots all fill up for the 6:30 viewing, we will add another time slot at 7:30.
