This impressive species is one of the largest Bulbophyllums, remarkable for both its bold foliage and sizable flowers. Endemic to the island of New Guinea, it grows as a lithophyte on sheer rock faces and cliffs. As with nearly all Bulbophyllum, the fragrance is foul, to attract flies as its pollinator.
