Description
This hybrid's name, "luminosa," translates to "brilliant light." And brilliant it is!

Catt. Luminosa is an uncommon hybrid that was flowered and named by Armstrong and Brown in 1917. The legacy of the parents of this hybrid go even further back in history: Cattleya Chamberlainiana is a cross between Cattleya (Sophronitis) coccinea and Cattleya harrisoniae, flowered in 1898!

This selfing of the tetraploid form should yield some interesting results: we predict improved flower shape while retaining unique colors. We expect these to flower in 2024 -2025.
