A beautiful species from Columbia. The flower photo represents dowiana aurea 2N, or standard chromosome form. We are offering un-bloomed 3N seedlings, which should have slightly larger and wider petals than the photograph. They are established in 3.25" pots and should reach blooming size by the summer of 2024. The aurea form typically has larger flowers than standard dowiana, including a different scent. Cattleya dowiana aurea likes to be a bit more shaded than most Cattleya, particularly in the summer months. In winter months they go semi-dormant and need less water without fertilizer. Foliar feeding is acceptable and good practice during winter. This is a species that is hard to obtain, and we have limited quantity!
