Description
A quality cross of this Venezuela and Colombia native species, which is known to grow in the wild in bright light and somewhat cooler conditions given it is found 1300 to 2000 meters above sea level. This is often referred to as the 'Christmas Cattleya' as it typically flowers at the end of December. The photos shown are the exact two parents used to make this cross, with the first photo being the awarded 'Canaima's Paramo' HCC/AVO.
These are established seedlings in 3.5" clear pots growing in sphagnum moss.
For hobbyists, the best growing combinations are typically pine bark mix with plastic pots or unglazed clay pots with NZ sphagnum moss. For our production, we do well in plastic pots with moss as our nursery air can dry quickly in the winter due to our under-bench heating.
These plants should all reach blooming size by 2026.
