A unique South American species from Venezuela and southeastern Bahia, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo states of Brazil Perhaps one of the best of the spectabilis with superb, extra large size deep grape-purple flowers. This is the tetraploid form. It also carries the fragrance of black licorice. These grow best in New Zealnd sphagnum moss in shallow pots. They can also be mounted on a cork slab with New Zealand sphagnum moss over the roots held down by coco fiber over the top. These were freshly potted as of 9-20-2025.
