Description
A sundew species native to Southern Australia and New Zealand. The name 'extrema' comes from this being the largest and most branched variety of the species. Each leaf is capable of 30+ points, hence the common name of the staghorn sundew. A fully adult plant will have leaves that are 12-16 inches long, which is why some growers keep their plants in hanging baskets. Give this plant as much light as possible. When grown indoors, use the brightest light exposure or a full spectrum full sun artificial light. Or, grow outdoors if the weather permits!
The flower photo makes the blossoms appear large, but these are very small in size and measure about 1.5 cm across.
Grow very moist, in low-nutrient material (we use sphagnum moss). Do not fertilize, and also use very low ppm water. Reverse osmosis, rain water or distilled water will work best.
