Description
This species can be found growing epiphyticaly on trees in the tropics of southeast Asia. The plants in this genus are known for the symbiotic relationship they form with ant colonies, which house themselves within the chambers of the enlarged caudex. This species is known to produce intumescences on the leaves when exposed to low humidity. These appear as small brown spots that eventually dry and leave a small natural window in the leaf. Maintaining adequate humidity will help mitigate this natural phenomenon of this species. When grown to mature size, this plant produces small white flowers and little orange fruits from the neck of the caudex.
We offer two forms of this species. The "natural" form was grown initially in shaded conditions, resulting in a more natural appearance that this species takes on when growing out from among detritus on tree branches in the wild. The second "round" form was grown with bright light from the start, resulting in a squat, round caudex.
