Description
Kibana x Yubae (Kibana x Shutennou) is a predominately yellow flower with a little pink/red tinge to the ovary behind the flower. Some may have more and some may have less pink/magenta, as these are seed grown they are all a surprise! This is not a true species, but a hybrid most likely with Ascocentrum in the background. Here is a description of 'Kibana':
Exported out of Japan as Neofinetia falcata, but often referred to the Japanese as a Neofinetia 'Hybrid', 'Kibana Fuuran' is a beautiful yellow flowered Neofinetia cross. 'Kibana' means 'Yellow Flower' in Japanese, and sometimes individual cultivars are set aside and sold as divisions, giving them different trade names like 'Ogonmaru' and 'Kisuzume'. They are all from this particular hybrid, which is unidentified in Japan but could most likely be Moonlight Firefly (Ascf. Twinkle x N. falcata). The flowers typically open white and darken to yellow over the period of about a week. They have a different fragrance than regular Neofinetia and also tend to bloom in the early spring or late fall/winter, and when large can bloom more than once per year.
