This variety, 'Hanakanzashi', has random mutations in the flowers which sometimes produce double to triple spur flowers. It tends to do this when the plant is large, multi-growth and in good shape. It is possible for the flowers to sometimes produce a standard single spur flower. While this is a somewhat slower-growing Neofinetia, it clumps well over time and is somewhat rare.
