'Kinbotan' is another rare division from Japan. It is prone to morphing into other varieties, but most commonly collected because of its various unique traits. It has ruby red root tips (unfortunately none are showing in this pic, will re-post if root tips emerge), 'sumi', or 'ink' markings on the leaves, a red spotted flower spike and the 'tenba' or top leaf is always a golden color compared with the rest of the leaves. Other rare varieties similar to this one have sold from $10,000 to $100,000 in Japan.
