Description
Kurodake is of Korean origin and was produced via selfing of an Amami Island form. It has the appearance of Tamakongo, with lots of dark anthocyanins (red pigment) in the leaves, giving them a 'blackish' appearance. This is a nice alternative for a bean leaf as there are not many with these dark leaf markings.
*Note, this is a Korean variety and it was originally labeled 'Kurogaku' by mistake. The actual reading of this character would be 'Kokugaku' or possibly 'Kurodake' (named after a mountain in Hokkaido). Since the name is not yet a registered 'Fuukiran', there is nothing official name-wise in Japanese.
