Description
This is a unique genus from Central and South America, best known for its ability to bloom repeatedly on the same inflorescence. With proper plant health and growing conditions, these orchids can re-flower on a single spike for 5–10+ years, making it one of the longest-lasting flower spikes in the orchid world.
These plants prefer consistently moist roots, and despite their thick foliage, they are shade-loving orchids that grow slowly and steadily. Warm to hot growing conditions are ideal. While many tolerate intermediate temperatures, take care not to over-saturate the growing medium during extended periods in the 60s to low 70s, as cooler temperatures combined with excess moisture can lead to issues. Good air circulation is important to help prevent leaf rot.
These orchids grow well in both sphagnum moss and bark mixes.
Plants in 3" pots are well-established seedlings and are expected to reach blooming size around 2028.
