Description
Once known as an Oncidium phymatochilum this renamed species heralds from the Serra do Mar mountains in Brazil and is a rare species. The plant resembles an Oncidium but it is more closely related to the genus Miltonia. This medium to large sized plant has flattened wide pseudobulbs and broad wide leaves with a red tinge make this plant attractive even when not flowering. It carries tall 3-4 foot multiple branched spikes with up to 50 to 100 flowers! Our plants are large flowering sized divisions from our 'Fernbrook' clone which has been in our collection for decades. This plant likes bright diffused light and intermediate to warm temps. This species grows really well for us in New Zealand sphagnum moss. Allow the potting mix to approach dryness between watering. Only offered every few years. Only 4 divisions available as of 3/11/2023
