Pictured here is a sample of this cross. These are seed-grown, so results can slightly vary. Cycnoches are one of the only orchids to produce male or female flowers. It seems to be random, with the main difference being that male flowers are more abundant and smaller than the female flowers, which are larger and have a stronger fragrance.

Native to tropical America—from southern Mexico to Brazil and Bolivia—this genus is typically found in warm, moist, open-canopy forests or growing terrestrially on decaying logs.

Note: It’s normal for the foliage to yellow and drop during or just after blooming. New growth typically follows soon after from the base of the cane.
