This is going to be a wild cross! A new and exclusive hybrid. We took the two largest Stanhopeinae we could find and made the intergeneric cross Coryhopea. Coryanthes bruchmuelleri is the largest of all the Coryanthes. Paired with a 4N tigrina, these should produce very large, fragrant flowers. Due to the 4N of the Stanhopea, the flowers will favor the Stanhopea shape, but will still have 1/3 influence from the Coryanthes.
Established seedlings have just been shifted from 2-inch root-bound pots into 3-inch as of March 2025. We expect these seedlings to reach blooming size by 2027 to 2028.
