Description
A species native to Brazil which can grow in cool to hot temperatures (warmer is better for growth). This plant has naturalized and grows in Southern Florida. This is a terrestrial that grows in sandy soils in the wild or can often be found growing on rotted fence post or stumps and is also found growing in crotches of trees in semi shade with their roots. Ours are growing in a pro mix with extra perlite and are doing very well. This plant does well in semi bright light, and can also be grown in nearly full sun if acclimated properly. These are Spring to Summer bloomers, producing tall and branching stems of fragrant flowers.
It is normal for the growths to shed all the foliage after each new cane has reached maturity while they are pushing out a new growth from the base.
