Description
Eulophiella elisabethae was named for the first Queen of Romania, Elisabeth Wied (1843 -1916), who was also a writer under the pen name of Carmen Sylva.
This rare and magnificent species hails from Eastern Madagascar and the Comoros Islands. The plant has an interesting structure as the leaves are stiff and narrow and emerge from a rhizome that can have a distance of 3" or more between growths. The waxy, light pastel pink, fragrant flowers are spectacular, being three inches in size and developing on spikes that can have 15-30 flowers per spike. These flowers can last for 2-3 months. For best results, grow these in New Zealand sphagnum moss and allow the moss to just approach dryness between watering. Fertilize every third time you water. Our Green Jungle Orchid fertilizer is great for these and other orchids. The plants offered as of 09/2025 should flower in 2027. Limited availability.
