Maxillaria scalariformis is an orchid native to Costa Rica and Panama rainforests. It prefers consistently moist conditions and should not be allowed to dry out completely. Stiff, upright growths similar to Dendrobium with lots of dark red pigment in the foliage and pink flowers that bloom right off the leaf axis points. Attractive foliage!
