Native to the rainforests of Brazil in the state of Espirito Santo, where it grows in dappled sunlight enjoying a wide range of temperatures. The colors can vary a bit but are heavily saturated in red and burgundy appearing as black. This orchid typically flowers in the fall, winter or spring often flowering twice per year. We have found these grow best in New Zealand sphagnum moss, watering when the moss is lightly damp to the touch.
