Found across a wide distribution in Africa, this is a hardy-growing species tolerant of cool to warm temperatures, and produces foliage larger than galeata, which is the largest-flowered Polystachya. Although it has large foliage, the flowers are small, but colorful and abundant in thick clusters, often blooming over 100 flowers on an inflorescence when large.
