Description
This offering comes from a cross of two large-flowered Stanhopea tigrina, one of Mexico’s most spectacular orchids. We are offering seedlings that should reach blooming size by 2027–2028. Native to Mexico, this hardy species is both cool- and warm-tolerant, and can even survive outdoors year-round in places like Southern California and Southern Florida.
We grow our plants in solid pots until they reach blooming size (about a 6" basket), as this method produces the fastest growth for us. Stanhopea tigrina prefers shady conditions and grows most vigorously during the warm season, when you can water and fertilize generously. A well-rooted Stanhopea is nearly impossible to over-water as long as there is good airflow and temperatures remain above 70°F.
