This rare variety of vanilla is native to Mexico, Central America and Columbia. It is an amazing plant with very large leaves and will grow up the sides of palm trees in south Florida. Perfect for tying up on a palm tree. This can also be grown in the home. The greenish yellow flowers can emerge at anytime once the plant gets tall enough. You can hand pollinate the flower the day it opens and it will develop a seed pod. Once the seed pod is mature in around three months you can harvest it, dry it and place it in a bottle of vodka. In six moths you will have vanilla extract. Grow in medium light and make sure the bottom part is planted in a substrate like moss. Water as the mix approaches dryness.
