Description
This is one of the first vinicolor Maudiae to flower with great shape and superb color. It was grown by the now defunct nursery Armacost and Royston which was a division of Stewart's Orchids. In 1984 it received an Award of Merit from the American Orchid Society. In 1985 it also received a Gold Medal from the Cymbidium Society of America. This plant has great historical significance in that it was one of the first of the vinicolor (wine colored) Paphs developed. Stewart's Orchids had one of the only vinicolor callosums (given the clonal name 'Burgundy Stewarts') that came in with a shipment that originated in Thailand. This plant along with callosum 'Jac' were the only two naturally occuring vinicolor callosums that were imported to the USA. From these two clones originate all vinicolor Paphs that you see today.
