Mike Mims is a well-known artisan Phalaenopsis breeder, so Frank Smith must have thought it would be funny to name a Paphiopedilium after him. The flower example is not a great example of what this cross is capable of. And, like all rothschildianum hybrids, the greater potential will come off the 2nd or 3rd flowering.

A very large and handsome (like the man himself) flower, with a first bloom (in photo) measuring at 8" across! So far we have not detected any scent, but it is possible that some carry over the fragrance from the Wössner China Moon.

These types of Paphs grow best for us in sphagnum moss or bark mix.
