Description
We are offering an aesthetically pleasing style of displaying and growing these Paphiopedilum Maudiae hybrids via Kokedama. This variety is easy to grow and makes for a great gift plant!
Kokedama is a Japanese potting method in which moss is used to contain a growing substrate for the plant of choice. In this case, we use New Zealand sphagnum moss inside the moss ball, and a preserved sheet moss to wrap around the outside of the sphagnum moss.
Care tips:
We will include a 5" plastic saucer as a base in case you or the recipient does not have a decorative saucer to place the kokedama atop. You can water the kokedama from the base of the saucer as the moss ball will wick up the moisture into the kokedama. Water based on time and weight, as the kokedama will lose moisture over time but also will feel much lighter when you pick it up once the moisture levels are low. Typically, you will be re-applying water every 4 to 7 days, based on your conditions and humidity. Once a month, we recommend pouring water over the entire kokedama (you can also do this each time you water if you like, instead of filling the saucer).
