This species which is native to Sulawesi at about 700 to 1000 meters in elevation is quite rare. As the name states, gigantifolium has the largest foliage of all Paphiopedilum with mature plants reaching 3"+ wide leaves that can reach 2 feet+ in length. This plant also is used to consistent moisture, and does not do well if the potting material becomes too dry.

Our 2023 seedlings are roughly 6 to 8 inches or more in leaf span.

This is a warm growing plant that like shady conditions. It has thinner foliage than most Paphiopedilium in the section polyantha (multi-floral). Our plants are rooted into 2.25" pots and are most likely 3 to 4 years from blooming size with good growing conditions.
