This species is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and the northwestern Yunnan province of China, where it can be found growing on limestone outcroppings. This orchid flowers in the late fall and winter, during which it prefers higher humidity around 80%. This cross was done using the sanderae variety, which produces a predominantly yellow flower with white edge accents, with a faint presence of brown spots, with the sanderianum variety, which is similar but entirely spotless. We expect a mix of flowers that range from var. sanderae to var. sanderianum.
