Description
These modern day crosses are the finest examples of the "King of the Paphiopedilums", with flowers reaching 30 centimeters in width! These excellent plants are around 10 to 12 years old and rare in nature. The large flowers are stunning, with vivid dark colors and large, tall stems that can bear 3 to 5 flowers. We offer these just in the beginning to flower stage as of 02/16/2022. We are successful shipping these plants in flower.
This species is native to Borneo where it grows on Mount Kinabalu. It was first imported by Frederick Sander, often referred to as the 'Orchid King', who had one of the most amazing orchid nurseries in England. Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach described the species in 1892 and named it after Sander's friend, Ferdinand de Rothschild, who built the amazing Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire, England.
PLEASE NOTE: We will only ship these by themselves in one plant per box to ensure safe arrival.
The cross names are listed in the offerings below. These are some of the latest crosses and have large flowers for the type. Some have exceeded 30 CM in width. Beautifully grown in 5.5" Round Pots.
