This species was desribed in 1896 as a form of concolor called var. longipetalum. It has recently been renamed josianae. These plants are smaller growing than concolor but the leaves are slightly more narrow. The flowers usually emerge in the summer to early fall and are quite large for the size of the plant. These plants like a bit of limestone in the mix or water that has some alkalinity. If using rain, distilled or reverse osmosis us a fertilizer like our Green Jungle that has calcium and magnesium added at the right balance.
