We created this hybrid to produce long-petaled flowers that are easier to grow and flower than the caudatum complex species. This hybrid is more tolerant of warm temperatures in the summer due to the wallisii influence. These are quite incredible with 2-4 flowers that have around 70 cm long petals! These are beautiful plants that we have been growing from seed since 2010 (good things are worth waiting for). Grow in lower to medium light and water as the potting mix approaches dryness. Use clean water like rain, distilled or reverse osmosis or municipal water with a pH of 6 to 7.5 and low mineral content. Since the caudatum complex can rot easier than other Phrags, during the hot summer months we recommend watering with a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide once per month to keep any bacterial rot under control. We also recommend using Orchiata bark mixed with Growstone and charcoal. The best Orchiata bark sizes to use for all the caudatum complex species or hybrids would be the 'Power' (medium) grade bark for pots up to 5 inches. Larger pots may breath better with the Power Plus (medium/large) grade bark.
