Another great miniature species hailing from elevations between 1600 and 3000m in Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia. Flowers are small but showy and open at the ends of long, pipe-cleaner-like spikes.
Established plants growing in Rand air cone pots with tree fern fiber. These also will do very well in New Zealand sphagnum moss. Beautiful dimpled leaves that are stiff with substance.
The flowers of this species are truly curious as when the lip is disturbed by a small insect it takes a few seconds and the lip closes quickly to trap the insects head against the pollen thereby attaching it to the head to be carried to another plant for pollination.
