Very striking, large (6") yellow flowers, spotted very nicely with reddish markings reminiscent of leopard spots. From the forests of Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. As with most Stanhopeas, requires a cooler, drier winter rest to initiate flowering.
2022 Stanhopea Species Offering Notice This spring of 2022, we are offering potted, rooted back-bulb Stanhopea species that were divided from our collection plants during the summer of 2021. These divisions are established but have older leafless bulbs which function to fuel the emergence of new growths and flower spikes. These orchids are potted in coconut husk chunks in solid pots. The flower stems can grow over the rim or through a drain hole. However, they will flower the easiest in a basket packed with sphagnum moss. Both coco husk and sphagnum moss, along with the orchid baskets are available on our website. Water and fertilize heavy in the summer for maximum results!
