Description
A very rare species from Borneo. This species likes Phalaenopsis conditions to Cattleya conditions for light levels. Water as the plant approaches dryness. These are all specimen plants and the photos are of the actual plants for sale.
We have artificially propagated this rare species from Borneo. This species is unusual because it has two different shaped and colored flowers on the same inflorescence. The 'Farmington' clone is more compact than the usual forms of Dimorphorchis lowii and more cold tolerant. The upper flowers are yellow with red spots, and the lower flowers are more reddish in color (see close up picture). Limited availability. These plants were grown from seed first sown in 1990. The plants we have for sale right now are 30 Years old as of 2020. The Fifth photo you see is of one that is 32" tall ad has a huge leaf span over 38". The 6th and seventh photo you see is of the Largest plant we have for sale with a 42" Height and a giant leaf span as well. Both plants have three flower spikes on them with flowers open or just budding. The 32" tall one has ore flowers open but they are long lasting and the spikes are super flexible like rubber so they are easy to pack and ship safely. It is doubtful that any nursery will raise these this long in the future. It takes a working lifetime of commitment to grow these plants from seed to maturity. The last photo is of two smaller flowering size plants.
