Native to dry, lowland deciduous forests in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, Aerides crassifolia occurs at elevations up to 1,300 meters. This Vandaceous species features olive-green leaves with distinctly notched tips and produces arching to pendent racemes bearing up to 50 long-lasting, sweetly fragrant pink to purplish flowers. It typically blooms from spring through summer.
Grow in warm temperatures with medium to bright light and frequent watering during active growth. We grow our Vandaceous orchids in pots with bark or moss, since we are midwest growers. Therefore, they are ready for the average household grower who cannot provide enough moisture for bare root orchids.
Blooming size plants which we expect to flower in 2027, with the possibility of some flowering by fall of 2026.
