Native to India, this species is prized for its impressive color and large flowers. Named in honor of Walter Rothschild of Tring Park, England, the clone ‘Red Chimney’ received an AM/AOS in 1976 and was elevated to an FCC/AOS—the AOS’s highest flower-quality award—in 1991.
Unlike some Bulbophyllums, this species does not have a pungent odor. Its mild scent resembles bean sprouts and is only noticeable up close. A must-have classic for Bulbophyllum collectors!
Current divisions are in spike and expected to bloom by mid-October.
