Description

Oryzaline treated refers to chemical treatment of the protocorms in the laboratory. The goal is to convert these already massive flower plants into tetraploids, to create wider petals and thicker substance. While treatment is not a guarantee, we have found the conversion to be highly successful with other projects. These seedlings are in 3" pots and expected to reach blooming size in the summer of 2028 or 2029.

Native to Colombia, this is the largest-flowered species in the Cattleya alliance and was formerly known as Cattleya gigas. An easy-to-grow species, it produces impressive flowers reaching approximately 20 cm (8") in natural spread.

Blooming typically occurs during the summer months, with large, showy, and highly fragrant flowers that make a spectacular display.
