Cedar Mounting Ladders

Similar effect to cork. Mount orchid at base using twine, fishing line, wire, twist tie etc and the root system will grow around the wood as growths grow upward. Mounting ladders are perfect for plant roots to wrap all around and will allow the plant to climb right up. As the plant starts to outgrow the ladders, simply add a new one to the top and let it grow. These are hand-crafted here in Minnesota by one of our customers who is a woodworker. Several years ago, a long time German orchid grower told us that cedar has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that trans-locate into the orchid roots and then into the plants. Having visited his nursery near Stuttgart, I could see that all his plants mounted on cedar were free from any pathogens. Redwood will also have the same properties.
