Clowesia Rebecca Northen 'Mikabi'

This select clone of a famous hybrid, created by W.W.G. Moir in 1971, is known for its fantastic floral display and grapefruit-like fragrance. Rebecca Northen, a dedicated hobbyist, was also a respected author of orchid literature. Most notably, her acclaimed book Home Orchid Growing, published in 1970, was considered the best reference on orchid cultivation at the time.

This orchid thrives in semi-shaded light and should be watered when the moss approaches dryness during its flowering and growth periods. Fertilize frequently during the growth phase, then stop all fertilizer use once the plant sheds its leaves for winter dormancy. The leaves will fall off completely, either before or during flowering. Once dormant, reduce watering and discontinue fertilizing. After a rest period—typically no longer than three months—new growths will emerge. Once they reach 3 to 4 inches tall, you can resume regular watering and fertilizing.
