Description
Coconut peat is a fantastic alternative to traditional peat moss. This product is aged and cured for 24 months and flushed out to remove salts. pH of 5.2-6.3 is ideal for most plants for optimum nutrient uptake. Package style may differ.
We have used this to ammend bark mixes for Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium, Stanhopea, Coryanthes, Gongora, Paphiopedilum and Phragmipedium. We recommend an amendment of 1 part coco peat : 1 part bark : 2 parts inorganic (perlite or charcoal).
The second photo shows an example mix you could make using coco peat, perlite and charcoal. In the case of small plants and seedlings we can use only coco-peat mixed with 50% perlite and have good results.
