A modern potting mix for your water-loving orchids!
Rockwool is spun limestone rock fibers that hold water well, yet can dry out quickly if the root system is large. You will adjust your watering based on the root system. This medium works very well for water-loving plants such as Phragmipedium, Paphiopedilum, Oncidiinae, and Zygopetalum.
One thing to note is it can grow algae quickly if used in clear pots, and we have had better long-term luck in solid-color containers. Typically, this product will last up to a year. When kept wet at all times, we have found bacteria can grow quickly and sometimes need to repot within 8 to 10 months. A small compromise for faster growth!
