New Zealand sphagnum moss is one of the most universal of all orchid potting media!
New Zealand sphagnum moss is widely regarded as the highest quality available, lasting 1–2 years before needing replacement. Its long, thick strands provide excellent aeration while retaining moisture, making it ideal for orchids and other moisture-loving plants.
When potting with sphagnum, remember that the tighter you pack it, the longer it will take to dry. Moss also holds fertilizer longer than bark-based mixes, so we recommend flushing with pure water at least twice between fertilizer applications to prevent buildup.
We offer multiple grades and sizes, with AAA consisting of longer strands than the classic grade. Both are excellent choices for orchid culture and general moss needs.
