Paph. gigantifolium

This species, native to Sulawesi at elevations of 700 to 1000 meters, is quite rare. As the name states, gigantifolium has the largest foliage of all Paphiopedilum, with mature plants reaching up to 4-5 foot leaf span when mature. This plant also requires consistent moisture and does not do well if the potting material becomes too dry.
This is a warm-growing plant that likes shady conditions. It has thinner foliage than most Paphiopedilium in the section polyantha (multii-floral).
