This was the first Paphiopedilum hybrid ever made by Jon Dominy of the famous Veitch nursery (England) and registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in 1869. The 'Supurbum' clone was awarded a First Class Certificate on November 10, 1887. The divisions we offer are of that original plant.
We have been cultivating this division in our collection since the 1980's. A living antique and work of art. The painting of it in the photos was done by Nelly Roberts, who painted watercolors of awarded plants for the RHS as a color record for reference.
