Description
Native to Borneo, this species is adored for the very sweet fragrance that emits from the flowers. These start spiking in the spring, begin flowering in June, or July and continue to bloom into November. If grown under lights, this species can flower on a continuous basis. This cross utilized the famous 'Ponkan' AM/AOS parent, known for its large leaf and flower size. The resulting offspring produce round, star-shaped flowers with ivory petals and sepals with excellent color saturation. The articular clone offered in the photos is unusual in that there is a lot of magenta red saturation around the center of the flower whereas in many bellina the colors are not as saturated. We made this cross in 2009 and this is one of the best in our breeding stock from the cross.
